Our School

New Oscott Primary School is a three-form entry school situated in Sutton Coldfield, close to Sutton Park.

The school can admit up to 90 Reception children each year. The children are placed in three parallel classes.

We have a 39 full-time equivalent place Nursery offering a mixture of part-time and full-time places.  Each year we offer up to 20 full time places to children who are eligible for "30 hour" provision.  Part-time places are offered for either AM or PM sessions with the option of extending the length of each session by booking places in our before or after school provision.  Places are offered in line with our admissions policy.

Together, the Nursery class and Reception are known as the Foundation Stage. Each Reception class has a qualified teaching assistant working with the teacher during the day. There are also teaching assistants in each year group up to Year 6.

Our School and Nursery aim to provide a caring environment where children feel secure and work to their full potential. We aim to make the transition from home to school as smooth as possible for both children and parents.

We work towards the development of the whole child offering a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, which is constantly under review. The curriculum is designed to enable children to obtain knowledge, develop skills and understanding and to be aware of personal and spiritual values. The children have a voice through the School Council and Peer Pals who are trained to support children at playtimes

There are opportunities for a wide range of extra-curricular activities including educational visits, music tuition, football, cross country, tennis, karate, Spanish, French, Speech, dance and computing.

In addition to the Infant and Junior Computer Suites, there are also computers in each year group and tablets which are used throughout the school. There is an interactive whiteboard in every classroom, including Nursery, our two additional classrooms and both halls.

There is a well-stocked library which is used throughout the day. In addition, each class has a well-stocked class library.

There is a well-equipped hall in each department. These are used for PE, dance, drama, assemblies and also school dinners. The dinners are cooked in our own kitchen and the children have a choice of healthy meals each day

In addition to the large school playing field there are separate playground areas and a partly covered quad area which Reception use as an outdoor classroom. Nursery has its own outdoor play area which includes a grassed and wooded area, including a pirate ship which is used by all pupils in Nursery and Reception

The school has a before and after school childcare facility - Larks and Owls for Nursery and Infant children; Dawn ‘til Dusk for Junior children.
